Hello
Hi, I’m Kathy and a lifelong dog lover
describes me perfectly!
For nearly 25 years, I spent my time as a communications professional helping companies connect with their audience, be it consumers, customers or employees. And now, for my second act, I’m helping people communicate with their dogs so that they can live a happy, joyful life together.
My passion and love for dogs began at an early age, and there hasn’t been a time in my life where dogs were not a part of it. I have spent many years volunteering my time at animal shelters to help those dogs find their forever families. An important part of this process is nurturing a positive relationship with each dog to develop a bond and trust.

This is where my passion intersects with being a dog trainer. I want to help pet parents build that special bond with their dogs so that they learn how to communicate and be the fair, confident and humane leader that their dog expects of them. One of my most important values is being authentic, and with that comes a genuine desire to meet you where you are with your dog, and help your relationship thrive.
I’ve spent the past five years studying the science of dog training while also learning the art of it. I graduated from CATCH Canine Academy and have assisted an established trainer with her classes at St. Hubert’s for several years. She has more than 25 years of experience, and I continue this today because I enjoy it and learn something new each time.

The dog training industry is unregulated, which means that anyone who wants to say they are a dog trainer can do so. Because of this, it was important to let anyone who decides to invest their time and money in me know that I have the qualifications to train dogs. The Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers is an independent organization that evaluates understanding of dog science and behavior, and ensures that applicants have a minimum of 300 training hours. I am happy to say that I am a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA), and even if you decide to go another route with your trainer, ask about their credentials.

Kathy’s K-9 Coaching, LLC was established in 2023, to help pet parents navigate life with their canine companions. You can feel confident in my abilities to help you build a strong relationship with your dog and learn to communicate with each other.
